Tracks bent or loose? The door tells you.
The tracks guide the door and carry its alignment. A bent section, a loose wall bracket or tracks that have drifted out of parallel make the door grind, bind and eventually jump out.
How tracks get damaged
A bumper kissed at parking speed is the classic — the vertical track bends where the car met it. Loose lag bolts in soft or split framing let a track wander. Settling in older mountain homes shifts the opening itself. And rust at floor level, where meltwater pools, eats the track's bottom feet.
The signs
Grinding or popping at the same spot on every cycle. A door that binds halfway and needs a push. Gaps that open on one side when the door is closed, letting weather and critters in. Rollers climbing or chattering in one section. Track problems announce themselves in sound before they show in damage.
What repair involves
Straightening what's straightenable, replacing crushed or rusted sections, re-plumbing both tracks so they're parallel and true to the opening, and re-anchoring brackets into solid framing. Then the door is run and checked through its full travel — alignment is proven by how the door moves, not by how the track looks.

Questions, answered straight
My car just tapped the track. It looks fine — should I worry?
Run the door and listen: a new grind, pop or hesitation at that height is the track telling you it's bent. A small bend left alone wears rollers and can pop the door out under load. Worth a look.
Can a bent track be straightened, or is it always replaced?
Minor bends away from the roller path often straighten true. Crushed, kinked or rusted-through sections get replaced. We'll show you which you're looking at.
Why does my door leave a gap on one side?
Usually a track out of plumb on that side, or the door itself hanging unevenly from a cable issue. Both are alignment work — diagnosis at the door, then the fix.
