Opener repair & installation

Opener humming but nothing moving, remotes gone silent, or a unit at the end of its life — we repair openers that are worth repairing and fit modern quiet-drive and smart openers when they're not.

Technician servicing a ceiling-mounted garage door opener

First, is it the opener at all?

A door that won't open isn't always an opener problem — a broken spring makes a healthy opener look dead. Before we talk about replacing anything, we check the door's balance and springs, the safety sensors at the base of the tracks, the wall button and the remotes. Plenty of 'dead openers' are a sensor knocked out of line or a spring that let go.

Repairs we make

Remote and keypad setup and replacement, safety sensor alignment and replacement, drive gear and belt/chain problems, logic boards, and travel and force settings that have drifted. If the unit is repairable with parts that still exist for it, we'll repair it.

New openers, fitted properly

When a unit is at the end of its life, we fit belt-drive openers for quiet running, smart openers you can check from your phone, and battery-backup models that still open the door when a mountain storm takes the power out. Every install includes setting the travel and force limits and testing the safety reverse — the part that matters most.

Questions, answered straight

The opener hums but the door doesn't move. What's that?

Often a stripped drive gear or a disconnected trolley — or the door itself is too heavy because a spring broke. Pull the red emergency cord only if the door is fully closed; a door with a broken spring can fall. Then call us.

My remote works sometimes. Is it dying?

Usually it's the battery, sun glare on the safety sensors, or an LED bulb in the opener interfering with the remote's signal — all cheap fixes. We check the simple things first.

Can I get an opener that works during a power outage?

Yes — battery-backup openers open and close the door on battery when the power's out, which matters in the mountains. Ask when you call and we'll bring the right unit.
