New rollers: the quiet fix
Rollers are the wheels that carry the door in its tracks — and when they wear out, the door gets loud, shaky and hard on every other part. Replacing a worn set is one of the most satisfying repairs in the trade.
The signs your rollers are done
A door that rattles, rumbles or screeches where it used to glide. Rollers you can wiggle in their stems. Cracked or flat-spotted wheels, or wheels that have walked out of the track edge. Steel rollers from builder-grade doors wear fastest; in older mountain homes we still find original rollers running decades past their design life.
What we fit
Sealed-bearing nylon rollers are the standard upgrade: the nylon wheel runs quiet, and the sealed bearing keeps mountain grit and humidity out. A full set is replaced together so the door runs true — mixing one new roller with eleven worn ones just moves the noise.
Why it matters beyond noise
Worn rollers make the door drag and surge in its tracks. The opener works harder, the tracks wear at the contact points, and the door can bind at the curve — which is how doors end up off their tracks. Rollers are small parts with an outsized effect on the whole system's life.

Questions, answered straight
Can I replace rollers myself?
Most rollers sit in hinges you can unbolt — but the bottom roller brackets are under spring-cable tension, and removing one can release that tension violently. The bottom pair is technician work. Call us and we'll do the full set safely.
Nylon or steel rollers?
For homes, sealed nylon: quieter, no rust, and kinder to tracks. Steel rollers still suit some heavy commercial-style doors. We'll match them to your door's weight.
How many rollers does a door have?
A typical single door has 10, a double door 12 — one per hinge point along both tracks. We replace the full set in one visit.
