Remotes & keypads, sorted properly

A lost remote is a security item, not just an annoyance — it opens your house. We replace and program remotes and keypads, and wipe old codes so a missing remote stops working.

The common calls

Remote dead even with a fresh battery (the circuit board or the opener's receiver is done). Keypad that works in summer and sulks in winter (battery, and weather-worn contacts). A remote lost or left in a sold car. A new home where the previous owner's remotes still open your door — that one deserves same-week attention.

What proper setup includes

Programming the new devices to your opener's learn system, and — when a remote is lost or you're a new owner — erasing the opener's memory and re-adding only the devices you hold. A fresh keypad PIN that isn't the address, a birthday or 1234. And a check of the wall console and safety systems while we're at the opener.

Which remotes work

Modern openers use rolling-code systems and brand-specific frequencies; universal remotes cover many but not all. We match the remote to your opener's make and era — including older dip-switch units still running in the mountains — instead of handing you a maybe.

Questions, answered straight

I just moved in. Should I reset the opener codes?

Yes — treat it like changing the locks. Erase the memory, re-add your remotes, set a new keypad PIN. Anyone with an old remote otherwise has a working key to your garage.

My keypad works but the cover's cracked and numbers are worn.

Keypads are weather-exposed consumables — UV and freeze-thaw kill the keypad membrane. A replacement keypad, programmed and sealed, is a small visit.

Can I get a remote for an old opener?

Usually. Older dip-switch and early rolling-code openers still have compatible remotes or receiver upgrades. Tell us the opener's brand when you call and we'll bring options.
